Doctor or over counter for this cough?

A week ago I had a really bad cold but that's cleared up however since then the cough I also had is still there. It's a really deep almost wheezing rattling cough that comes from the center of my chest. I didn't take any medication for this cold, however I've never had a cough last this long before. Think it's still the flu or time to go to the doctor?
